Graphite Techniques for Botanical Illustration: Succulents

Saturday, June 8 | 10 am - 3:30 pm
The world of succulent plants includes far more than cacti. Botanist John Hayden will introduce students to the morphological categories of succulent plants, i.e., stem succulents, leaf succulents, and caduciforms. Prominent families of plants that include succulents will be surveyed: Cactus family, Euphorbia/Spurge family, Crassula family, Dogbane/Milkweed family, Yucca family, and Agave family. Students will be guided in rendering their choice of succulent plant in the medium of graphite by artist Sheila Hayden. This is an elective class in the Botanical Illustration Certificate program; completion of Introduction to Drawing for Botanical Illustration is prerequisite for enrollment.
Fees: Member $75, Non-Member $89
